The Problem
1. Complexity for Beginners
Most DeFi dashboards are designed for advanced users with deep crypto knowledge.
Overwhelming interfaces with charts, metrics, and jargon that are hard for newcomers to understand.
Users often don’t know where to start after connecting a wallet.
2. Confusing Wallet Connections
Many platforms require multiple steps to connect or switch wallets..
No clear support for multiple blockchain networks (ETH, SOL, BTC, etc.) in a single flow
Beginners may find it intimidating to manage different wallet addresses.
3. Poor Educational Support
Most platforms assume users already know DeFi concepts.
No integrated help or guided onboarding to teach the basics.
Beginners often have to leave the platform to search for explanations elsewhere.
4. Fragmented Portfolio Tracking
Users need to connect multiple wallets across different blockchains (ETH, SOL, BTC, etc.), but most platforms handle this clumsily.
NFTs, tokens, and DeFi positions are often displayed in separate views, breaking portfolio continuity.
Difficulty monitoring cross-chain assets in real-time without jumping between tools.
The Solution
Beginner-Friendly Experience
Designed a clean, intuitive interface with plain-language labels instead of heavy crypto jargon, Provided contextual tooltips and “Learn More” popups for every major metric or feature.
Smooth Multi-Wallet & Multi-Chain Support
Unified connection flow for Ethereum, Solana, Bitcoin, and other supported chains.
Track multiple wallets in one place without switching dashboards.
“Track Other Wallets” option for non-signed-in users to view activity of any public address.
Integrated Learning Hub
Built-in glossary explaining crypto and DeFi terms in beginner-friendly language.
Video tutorials and blog-style learning content for self-paced education.
Concept explanations linked directly to related features (e.g., “What is Staking?” inside staking view).
Explore Section for Discovery
View trending tokens, NFTs, and collections across all supported chains in one place.
Sort and filter trends by market cap, trading volume, or recent performance.
Links directly to token or NFT detail pages with charts, holder data, and transaction history.
Design Process
4. Wireframes & Prototyping
Using Figma, I created low-fidelity wireframes to map out core user flows , from wallet connection to portfolio tracking, exploring trending assets, and executing swaps or bridges.
Prototyped key interactions such as real-time price updates, and swap / bridge confirmations to ensure smooth navigation and intuitive layouts before moving into high-fidelity design.
5. Testing & Iteration
Since FolioFlow was a personal design exploration, I focused on self-directed testing and peer feedback. I walked through each user flow multiple times to spot inconsistencies, tested interactive prototypes for navigation clarity, and compared the experience against similar DeFi platforms to identify gaps. I also shared the design with a few peers familiar with crypto tools to gather quick, informal feedback, which led to refinements such as clearer asset labeling, improved hierarchy on the Portfolio dashboard, and a more intuitive filter system in the Explore section.
